Monitoring of human rights violations for 1 April 2021:
#BAYMAGAMBETOV MURATBAY — On 1 April 2021 Muratbay Baygambetov has been sent to hospital from the pre-trial detention facility as allegedly he attempted to commit a suicide, cutting his stomach with compiled cigarette tin foil. However, we have received information from reliable sources that Muratbay BAYMAGAMBETOV does not smoke, so he could not have cigarette foil. Moreover, no one brought him either tin foil or cigarettes. This information confirms assumptions about the attempted murder.
It should be reminded that Muratbay BAYMAGAMBETOV has been detained in the pre-trial detention facility since 25 September 2020 for the duration of his pre-trial investigation on politically motivated criminal case under Article 405 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of RK. Court proceedings against Muratbay in this criminal case began in early February 2021.
⚡ #DEMEUOVA Zhazira — On 1 April 2021 Zhazira went to the Police Department of the Almalin District. However, from the moment she left home, she was illegally followed by people in a tinted Mitsubishi car with plate number 308 KVA/02. According to Zhazira: «This car had been following me all day. There were several people in the car, who took turns going into administrative buildings and shops with me, where I bought groceries”.
— The car was driven by Adil SALAYEV, head of the Investigative Division of the Almaty Police Department.
— On 31 March 2021, Zhazira DEMEUOVA received a phone call from Sergei Ivanovich LITVINENKO, a probation officer, asking her to come to the Police Department of the Almalin District.
#DZHUMAYEV Ablovas — On 1 April 2021 DZHUMAYEV Ablovas received a politically motivated refusal to hold a peaceful protest.
Akimat (local executive authority) of Aktau has rejected a written request to hold a peaceful protest, submitted by the civil activist Albovas DZHUMAYEV. Quarantine is the reason for the refusal. This politically motivated refusal was signed by Malik ABDYKADIROV, Deputy Mayor of Aktau.
#SHUKEYEVA Anna — On 1 April 2021, a human rights activist of the human rights movement “405”, Anna Shukeyeva, submitted the documents for the 6-th time in order to register a human rights protection foundation under the name of “405 Human Rights Movement”.
Since the beginning of 2021, Anna has submitted documents 5 times and every time the Ministry of Justice by the order of NSC unlawfully rejected her requests. These rejections were clearly politically motivated referring to the non-conformity of the translation of foundation’s title in one language to the title in the other language (for instance, translation of the title into Kazakh language allegedly does not correspond to its title in Russian).
