On 30 April 2021, Gulmira MUKHANOVA, a human rights activist of the human rights movement «Article 14», was brutally and arbitrarily detained.
Activists Gulmira MUKHANOVA, Ninagul DZHUMANIYAZOVA, Niyazbek YUSUPOV, Zhanna YNTYMAKOVA, Gulbarshin YEREZHEPOVA, Yerkin KAZIYEV and Bibigul IMANGALIYEVA gathered in the house of another activist Tanzila in Kaskelen, as they are usually being preventively persecuted before peaceful rallies. Since lunchtime, outside surveillance of the house has begun.
Police officers: ⁃ ignored the activists’ demands to identify themselves ⁃ did not remove their masks or show their faces ⁃ did not show their IDs
Under the pretext of serving a summons to Zhanna YNTYMAKOVA, the police tried to lure her out of her home. In protest, the civil activists chained themselves to each other. The police officers, unable to cope with this on their own, called for the SOBR. The activists were taken one by one to different police stations.
As a result of their arbitrary detention and the use of force, the activists were injured. For example, human rights activist Gulmira MUKHANOVA had a swollen hand. As a result of the examination by ambulance doctors, the doctors recommended that Gulmira be taken to hospital, but district police officer BAIGUTOV Yerlan did not allow this.
Due to the fact that Gulmira Mukhanova was taken to the Bostandyk District Department of Internal Affairs in her home clothes and was not allowed to take her belongings and bag with keys, she had to stay in the District Department of Internal Affairs until 21:00. The policeman Yerlan BAIGUTOV did not allow Gulmira to stay in her neighbours’ flat until her daughter arrived with the keys to the flat. Also, District Police Officer BAIGUTOV Yerlan threatened Gulmira that if she went outside on 1 May, even to take out the garbage, he would again take her to the District Department of Internal Affairs.
